Eat Shit

Eat Shit.

5 billion flies can't be wrong.

There must be a reason why we depend on Lithuanian and other foreign artists for our wall murals and street art. Local graffiti artists are either too basic or too brutally honest.

Saw this on a random walkabout in inner JB.

Behind The Scenes At The Barber

Behind The Scenes At The Barber

Behind The Scenes At The Barber.

My friend Cy Leow said the barber didn't look very happy in the earlier post. I think the poor barber was overwhelmed by the presence of cameras and continuous clicking sounds. I was holding an Olympus OM-D EM5 while Sharon Teo was armed with the smaller. lighter and newer OM-D EM-10.

We turned a haircut into an event and this candid summed up the moment succinctly.

Endau Rompin National Park - Selar

The Selar part of the Endau Rompin National Park is beautiful and remote as few visitors approach it from the western entrance through Bekok town, This is where tigers and elephants roam. Many waterfalls too.You will also meet the Jakun tribe here.

You need to research in advance if a permit and fees are .payable. It is a long way to turn back. A 4WD vehicle is mandatory. There is a guard post in which they hired a native orang asli as guard. That's commendable. I stayed at the nearby town of Segamat or you can also stay at Labis too..

Help For The Russians

Wen Dee was saying there should be drive-through ATMs. I remember seeing it in tiny Bekok town where motorcycylsts withdrew money without dismounting. In searching for the pic, I found this pic from the 2009 Rainfoerst Challenge at the Selai National Park, part of the Endau Rompin National Park in Johor, it is a beautiful and rarely seen view of the park.

Bekok is the frontier town and western entrance. Participants from the various counties drive out of the rainforest during their "break days" to get supplies. The Chinese medicine shop was like a convenience shop. I wrote this:

Kukup Immigration and Ferry Terminal

Exodus Via Kukup.

I saw an article in the NST today that Kukup Ferry Terminal was gridlocked as 12,000 Indonesians head home for holidays. I knew I have a pic of the Immigration and ferry terminal archived somewhere. Am happy I found the folder effortlessly. It was taken on 19th June 2010 with my Olympus EPL-1. Remember this place, Emily Lowe?

The Village Porter - Kukup

On Kukup Island, there is a bellhop or porter service to move your luggage through the rickety pathways that connect the houses converted into hotels or homestay. I think many of the guests are group tourists from China when I was there.

I created a Kukup Hotels page here: Click on text link if banners don't load as normal. Or contact me for help.

Kukup Temple

Children playing at the courtyard of the village temple. Not many open spaces on the mangove island as every track and lane were on planks built on stilts.

At Chinese fishing villages, it is common to see Taoist temples dedicated to deity Mazu, under different name variations. Mazu is the revered Chinese Goddess of the seas and guardian protector goddess for fishermen.
