Introducing Nga Nga

Introducing Nga Nga

Nga Nga is our lonely and bored indoor cat. He holds a special place in our hearts. Eight or nine years ago, my mom saw a tiny kitten trapped and crying in a water logged and deep monsoon drain that he must have fallen into..

Mom summoned me and I jumped in without thinking. The drain was so deep I could not climb back up. Had to walk a mile before finding a way to climb out, with the wet, dirtied and frightened kitten in hand. Nga Nga means baby in Cantonese. Was the name registered at the vet when he was sent for check up and vaccinations.

Fresh As Tesco

Mandarin Orange from Tesco Malaysia

A 4 KG carton of honey mandarin oranges I bought from them are still juicy today, some 20 days later. In comparison, a box I received as a gift around the same time were already dried up and some oranges are rotting.

Amazing that the Tesco ones stayed so fresh, juicy and tasty so many days after purchase. It was labelled as Fujian Yongchun Honey Mandarin imported from China by Kaishen Trading. Was cheap too. Cant remember the price but hope co-shopper Johnny can remember.

A Valentine Day's Gift

A Valentine Day's Gift

While not intentional, it was a pleasant Valentines Day's gift for me and my cats, since it arrived today.

She is not only generous but, at my request, helpfully screenshot part of the purchase process to keep me in the loop. It will help me understand the process and to troubleshoot should other new donors have questions. So far it seemed simple and dependable, if you use a Malaysian issued credit or debit card.

There Is Hope

There Is Hope

After speaking to Jidz Mohamed of Tesco Malaysia, I can confirm you can donate cat food and cat litter for my 5 cats. Their usual brand is Smartheart Seafood Flavour and they are costing me a fortune currently. I have had them since rescuing and adopting them as orphaned homeless kittens.

My revenue is reduced with my recent medical condition. My mobility is affected too and shopping for heavy stuff is challenging, I worry constantly about their food and other burden but is cheered up when I see them play with me.

Pineapple Tarts

Nyonya Pineapple Tarts from Tesco

The jar of pineapple tarts that me and Johnny Ong picked at random in Tesco turned out to be quite good.

The Asian cookie is popular during festivals and the blob of orange is hardened pineapple jam. The pastries are fluffy, flaky and tastes buttery with "melts in the mouth" goodness. Kudos to Tesco for sourcing a good supplier. Shown as halal Nyonya Pineapple Tarts from Ann-Lee Industries on the label.

I enjoyed photographing the tarts because they look big. textured and luminous. Huat ah!

IOI City Mall, Putrajaya - Part 3

IOI City Mall, Putrajaya - Part 3

Tesco installed a bank of self-checkout machines at their hypermarket to reduce queuing. Feeling like a 'jakun' (a politically insensitive term) seeing it for the first time. It is like a family attraction as many customers were also fascinated by the novelty. It is a pilot deployment and the first by a major retailer in Malaysia.
